June 17, Saturday
As we headed south on I-A3 we were stunned. Dad looked at Momma and Momma looked at Dad and they both exclaimed, "A paved rest area. Do you believe it!" I'm talking about actual paving...not with gravel...with blacktop.
It has been that long since parking areas have been paved (because we have been visiting the old mining camp areas of Alaska) that the paving actually made an impression on us. The road may look a tad damp as we had a light drizzle this morning that has now cleared up. The highway had a few dips and bumps but not enough to unsettle our load. Good travel day for sure.

Fairbanks may have had the city amenities but by comparison, Denali has the nature views times 2. What a gorgeous landscape as we approached the area.
Once again our campsite is a tad on the narrow side but the office staff is super warm and welcoming. The cable works better here compared to the snowy picture in Fairbanks and we even have more choices of channels.
Momma and Dad are looking forward to taking the shuttle into Denali National Park tomorrow.....that means more pics tomorrow.....
