Toss a pancake, win a free breakfast

If you can toss the pancake into the bucket, you get a free breakfast.  Go Dad go.....

Here's the pic of the winning breakfast eaters.  Notice two young girls and one senior citizen.  It's not an easy task to get your pic on the wall of fame!
Sourdough Campground has nightly entertainment provided by...the campers.... as they participate in the pancake toss. Pancake can not be folded or balled.  Flat toss into the bucket.  Before the toss, the owner has each participant identify themselves and add any short tidbits of info.  Many had arrived in Tok via the Top of World and Taylor Hwy.  They were dusty and tired after the Taylor Hwy section.  I really think I would rate that road as the worst of our trip so far.  I still have memories of Taylor even though it was a month ago.  Our arrival was from Glennallen on a paved but a bit rough highway referred to as the Tok Cutoff/Hwy 1.

Even though it wasn't a free breakfast, we decided to treat ourselves to sourdough pancakes loaded with blueberries and reindeer sausage.
It was Aunt Janice's birthday so we just had to begin the day with a treat.  The campground owners even sent her on her way with a free slice of homemade 'birthday' pie.
Sourdough Campground doesn't have all the amenities of Tok Village Resort (50 amp and cable) but it also doesn't have the higher rate. It does have the café serving sourdough or buttermilk pancakes, French toast, eggs, breakfast meats and oatmeal and great Wifi that Tok Village didn't have.   In the evenings, they serve chili in a sourdough bread bowl as well as hamburgers.  What impressed me was it appeared to be just a husband and wife team plus a teenage nephew making it all happen.  They put in some long days to make sure everyone had a great stay!!

It was travel day and we were heading into a 'remote' area once again as we crossed the US/Canadian border in Beaver Creek and traveled into the Yukon.  We had made a reservation at Discovery Yukon Lodge and RV Park. They provide 30 amp from a huge generator and water.  Momma had inquired about a birthday meal and the owners happily obliged.

They even served a special birthday treat with candle for Aunt Janice.

I have to admit, Aunt Janice certainly ordered a marvelous, sunny, warm (81 degrees) birthday for us on July 7th.  Everyone finally shed their long sleeves.

Momma wanted to know what part of  'It's her birthday' Dad didn't understand when he and Robin teamed up to beat Aunt Janice and Momma in 2 out of 3 rounds of Pegs and Jokers game.  Well, at least the birthday girl was on the winning team for the first game.  Maybe I shouldn't have been so busy chewing on my rawhide bone and doing more cheering.
