Arches vs Canyonland

Moab, Utah is a super location close to two national parks:  Arches and Canyonland.  Both feature awesome works of Mother Nature with lots of reds in the rock formations.  Arches of course has spectacular rock arches and windows.

Canyonland also has original nature made sculptures to share.

Our timing was perfect for Canyonland.  We counted 75 cars lined up/backed up at the entrance gate as we departed.

You really need to add these parks to your bucket list as the pictures don't even come close to doing justice to the real life views.  Now as to which is the better choice to visit...Momma said she enjoyed Canyonland more than Arches but that could have been because she had a sinus headache on Arches day and climbing to a higher altitude and adding more sinus pressure didn't help any.  But both Dad and Momma agree that either National Park has the Grand Canyon beat but Bryce Canyon would probably take first place on their list.

As sunset drew near, we drove up the hill behind the campground for some additional views.  The sun's angle really can enhance the colors.

Momma saw a house on that trip that she thought was pretty.

Moab has lots of restaurants and shops for the tourists but they also have a nice Quilt Shop.  The Quilt Guild had a small quilt show on display at the local history museum.  Enchanting!!
This guy greets all who enter the quilt shop before the friendly owner gets to add her friendly, welcoming greeting.

I rather hate to depart this area but then, we do have the scenic views to look forward to as we travel...so I say....load up Momma and Dad.  Let's hit the road

Hickory
......on the road again.
