Rolling out the white carpet

Boy did we feel special in Island Park.  Our hosts went out of their way to shower us with interesting, exciting experiences.  It all began with a glorious, chilling, white carpet of snow turning the area into a picture perfect wonderland.  Pretty white tipped trees, bushes, mountains.....and 5er and truck.  It covered all the road film and made us look pretty....until the snow melted.

I think Nala Grace ordered up the snow just so she could show off her bozo boots and sweater.  I must say, I REALLY enjoyed the cookie bone treats she shared with me.

Yellowstone was enchanting as well.  So much better than a zoo.  Animals in the wild...their own environment.  Tom and Nancy knew just where to go for some great sightings....up close sightings!

Momma said she thought about asking for a dance, but she was afraid he might step on her feet with those heavy looking hooves.

But there was much more than just bison out and about.

So we went down the list:  Bison-check; pronghorns-check; geese-check; long horn sheep-check; fox-check; coyote-check

Now all we needed was a bear.....and there he was! Right on cue.

But he was only a black bear.  How about a grizzly?  And don't you know, momma grizzly and her cub wandered into view on the hillside.

Momma said she was so glad to see the pine trees starting a regrowth.  The last time they were there, it looked like hillsides of toothpicks..due to pine beetle damage.  Now the new trees are really taking hold.

We were sad to leave our friends but Alaska is calling us.  Who knows, maybe we will see a moose or two next.💓
